I had to wonder: Was it me, with my big belly, that inspired the deviation? All the Big Tech and oligarchy funding her work, and Pilat is exclusively selling infant onesies? Of course, the metaphor of robotics in its infancy endures, but its reality had suddenly taken precedent. Where other artists in the show sold catalogues and posters, Pilat, whose posters and paintings have been donated to various charities and supported the war effort in Ukraine, offered just a notebook and three items.an infant onesie and a t-shirt with socks for children to grow into over many sizes. It was only when I went to the gift shop on the NGV website that I realized the extent of my impact. My son was born in September and her PR representative sent the best of wishes. She did mention in our initial interview that robots were like children, soaking up intel, but I didn't quite realize she was too as we stayed in touch in advance of the triennial. Despite not being a parent herself, her wide-eyed compassion stood out. Many of my press contacts were sympathetic, but it was difficult to convey the extent of the massive shift happening to me, along with the pressures of the unknown. If it wasn't the pregnancy hormones wreaking havoc on meetings or the exhaustion slowing down work travel, it was the trauma of a failed induction and emergency C-section that ebbed my steady stream of articles. I did not advertise that I proudly became a mother for the first time this year under emotionally and somewhat physically challenging circumstances.but it was very hard to hide in real life. Because no matter what you build, the enduring question remains: what is your legacy? Like the children's story The Giver, wherein the human race only knows the emotions inherited, and subsequently forgets those lost to them, robots are innocent children, programmed by our expectations and our emotions as much as codes and numbers. But perhaps that insatiably empathetic curiosity is an essential component to building the machine.
